Claire and her mum created “HELPMEORGANICS“. HELPMEORGANICS create products which are Organic, Vegan, Paraben Free and Handmade using aromatherapy oils. One of their full size products features in our March Unibox!
Q: Hi Claire, What is your role in HELPMEORGANICS?
A: I am what you would call a “Creative Director” of HELPMEORGANICS, which is pretty much a fancy way of saying that I am responsible for everything to do with branding and marketing side of things. Being the daughter of a business owner, I feel as though it is in my blood to always be thinking of new creations and funky names and designs. So, when my Mum explained how she wanted to create her own line of health and lifestyle products to go in her salon, I obviously wanted to help and be involved in the creation of what could become my first venture into owning and growing a business. For an 19-year-old gap year student, that was pretty exciting.
Q: Why did you want to make these products?
A: My Mum had never found a company that sold products that were exactly what she had in mind to sell in her salon, so she decided to just make them herself. Nowadays, it is much easier to find out which products are cruelty free, paraben free, vegan and all these different types of things but very few products actually tick all of these boxes, never mind include as few chemicals as possible and include natural fragrances instead of synthetic ones. Being a trained aromatherapist and working within the holistic therapy industry for nearly 30 years, Mum decided to develop products that would live up to her standards.
Q: What did you like about developping this brand?
A: I have always been quite creative so the prospect of developing a brand with a very pure and moral image was something that I thought was extremely exciting. After thinking of the name while falling asleep one night, I know it sounds quite cliché but honestly that is how it happened, I felt like I had created a pretty good starting point for myself to go from. The next morning I was scribbling catchy titles down on paper like “help me, I can’t sleep” and “help me keep the bugs away” and it just spiralled from there. After sitting with my Mum listing all of these outcomes, “help me, it’s way past my bedtime” and our other 2 scents were created. I knew I wanted to design a brand that is relatable; I wanted our customers to pick up our product, have a little giggle and think “it’s as if it was designed especially for me”.
Q: How long did it take until helpmeorganics was born?
A: It took us around 5 months before we launched to make sure everything was done. From scent combinations to labels to websites to social medias, our to do lists looked endless but we finally launched in December 2016. Helpmeorganics is a vegan, cruelty free and paraben free company that, at the moment, create room sprays and candles (but we do have a few more ranges up our sleeves for this year). All of our products are handmade by us in our little shop in Cheshire and we are so proud of every single order. We are definitely the definition of a small business but we are certainly ready to make ourselves heard. Small but fierce, just like Shakespeare once said.
